Continuing with our article on Top 10 Things To Know About Running – Part One:

6) When you start running, Good Form will help you go faster, prevent injury and run for longer. Here are the basics for good running form:

Try to keep your arms at waist level, relax your hands, and maintain good posture.

Avoid bouncing and try to land softly in order to reduce stress on your knees and other joints.

Land on your heels or mid-foot and then roll forward to the toe.

Don’t run on your toes. Running on your toes will make your shins start hurting and your calves tight.

7) A good habit to get into is to focus on Breathing Correctly in the early stages of your running activities. Focusing on breathing early helps you develop proper breathing technique. Breathe in through your nose, and exhale through your mouth. Following this principal prevents you from swallowing bugs when you run and cool your head down by getting rid of the some of the generated heat.

8 ) Always, when running or performing any kind of exercise, Listen to your body. This is a crucial point, because your body usually knows if it has had too much exercise for the day and need rest. Don’t push yourself to the point of feinting, or heat stroke since it may cause some serious damage to your body and your brain. If you body is letting you know that it wants to stop. Slow down. Cool down and walk slowly home. Ensure that you always have something to drink when running. Cooling your body down is an important way to reduce heat stress and reduce injury.

9) Running to lose weight should be made A Habit. Do it a few times a week, set a routine and in a month you will wonder why you never started running sooner. You will crave it, love it and will try to run at work, sitting down, and in any weather.

10) The most important point when it comes to running or any kind of exercise is to Have Fun doing it. If you don’t enjoy it you will never do it. So spice up your running by varying the distances, speeds and locations. On the weekend, drive out to the countryside and run in the woods for an hour, or Go to a track and field center and see how it feels to be running on a professional surface. If it starts getting boring, get a dog and run with your dog. Find a running buddy.

Hopefully these Top 10 Things To Know About Running will help you in your quest to lose weight and tone your body.

Running is one of the easiest and best forms of exercise out there. Anyone can do it anywhere they like. You can even run on the spot while watching TV, listening to music or having an engaging conversation. So why are so many people adverse to running as a form of exercise to help them lose weight?

The answer is simple, most of us don’t know how to prepare for this type of activity. Exercising requires a series of steps that will make your experience easier, safer and more effective. Here is the list of top 10 things you should know about running, before you begin.

Top 10 Things To Know About Running

1) If you plan to lose weight by running plan to run minimum 20-30 minutes, at least three times a week. Remember, even though running is good, it is not the only answer to your weight loss problem. Getting into the rhythm and running at regular intervals builds up your muscle strength and lets your body adjust to higher loads and longer distances later on in your exercise period

2) Prepare yourself first. Stretch before you run. Almost all people who begin to run forget to stretch before they start. Stretching is important. Very important. Your muscles need to be lose and warmed up so that you don’t damage them when you run. Limbering up your muscles (stretching) also helps you run for longer distances, faster, and expand (read burn calories) more energy. This almost always results in more weight loss. Bonus, you won’t feel as tired half way through you running routine.

3) Just like the previous tip, Stretching after you finish, helps keeping your muscles toned up and reduces recovery time, so that you can don’t get those aches the next day after a hard work out. But remember, stretching after you stopped running can actually damage you muscles, so this leads to my next tip.

4) Ensure that you let your body Cool down after a run by slowing down the pace from running to jogging to walking, about 10 to 15 min cool down should always follow a good 20-30 minute run. Increase cool down period as you increase you running time. After you cool down, do some light stretches.

5) Probably as important as Stretching is the need to have Proper running shoes. Sure anyone can run in their dress shoes, but I assure you that even Donovan Bailey would not be able to run far in his dress shoes. Running shoes make all the difference, they make your feet comfortable, let your run longer and faster. But don’t go crazy and spend $500 on a pair. For starters, you will only need probably a $60-$100. As you begin to run more, then you can go ahead a buy those top of the line ones.

The rest of the Top 10 Things to Know About Running will

Continued tomorrow…

iFitness App for the iphone can be thought of as a workout encyclopedia. It is a collection over 200 exercises, all with photos and easy to follow instructions.

Without further adue, here is our review of this iPhone app:

User Interface

Exercises

Featuring a simple, clean user interface, iFitness cuts out the unnecessary clutter polluting many iPhone apps these days. Its easy to navigate menu provides a concise way to get the different sections of iFitness quickly. A nice feature that included in iFitness has entry screens tailored for each exercise.

Ecyclopedia

Exercise List

On the Exercises screen, you can browse by categories organized according to muscle group. You can also search for an exercise by individual muscle, or browse the list in its entirety alphabetically.

How To

Click on the exercise will take you directly the screen showing how to perform the exercise, with clear, easy to understand instructions.

Routines

The Routines section is especially handy. It provides simple routines you could follow while doing your exercises. Routines for people who are not able to get to the gym, full body work outs, or strength building exercises demonstrate how you can achieve your fitness goals no matter how many excuses you might have. These preset routines are a good starting point for beginners, for more advanced users there is an option to create custom workouts in the My Workouts screen.

To sum up, it does almost everything you would need it to do. It allows you to prepare my workout exercises in advance (stretches and weights). Easy output that can be viewed for tracking your progress.

What is Yoga?

It is a form of mediation and physical exercise designed thousands of years ago to put your body and mind at peace and help you concentrate on your inner thoughts. It was originally developed by Hindu ascetics in India and has since been adopted in the western world as a form of exercise, relaxation and muscle strengthening exercise.

It is by all means one of the best exercise systems all around, because it brings together both physical and mental aspects in one. It allows for the person to experience the sense of being in an higher state of mind and at the same time burn calories, stretch out muscles and improve your overall health.

The P90X system, one of the best ways to lose weight and gain that lean and mean body, utilizes Yoga as part of the training system. Here is Tony Horton, the creator of P90X explaining why yoga is essential for your overall health.

How to lose weight by eating the right amount of food. Today we discover how portion sizes work and how they help you lose the unwanted pounds of fat.

The key to losing weight is to eat right, and eating right requires one to limit and reduce the portion sizes during meal times. There are numerous guides instructing people that its better to eat less more times a day then eat a lot during the sitting. While this is true, there is also a school of thought that suggests that eating three – four times a day is plenty and has the same affect as eating 6 times a day with small portions.

Why is eating three times a day better? Well first of all it allows the body to regain all of the depleted energy in one sitting and process it efficiently. Having a nice moderately portioned meal allows the body to consume it in a way that doesn’t force it to store excess of food as fat for later use. It allows your stomach to digest all of it and minimize the fat storage. Eating small portions 5-6 times a day effectively convinces your body that you are on the endge of starvation by constantly providing less energy that your body requires. As a result any excess fat that is consumed can be potentially stored for long term in your stomach or butt, leading to weight gain, rather then weight loss.

Since eating 3-4 times a day is most efficient, and since we have been following this pattern for thousands of years now, we must therefore regulate the portion sizes that are being served and consumed by us.

How much food should you actually eat per meal? The key to figuring this out is very simple. All of us are different and we all require a unique approach to losing weight, so it is in our hands to decide how big the portion should be. In order to help you decide, we have come up with one simple rule:

Rule: Eat until you begin to feel full, then stop. For each meal of the day.

If you apply this rule all the time, your stomach will begin to shrink in matter of weeks, and you will begin to eat less food, effectively reducing your portion sizes. Now, don’t worry, once you start losing weight your body will know how much food it needs, so just listen to it, and never eat more than your body requires.

If you just beginning to lose weight learn the approximate portion size by following the rule and then eat a bit less, this will help you stomach adjust to the reduced portion size effectively shrinking it.

Once you have decided on your portion size remember that next step is to begin exercise, losing the accumulated fat will only happen if you burn it all off. So don’t be afraid to get on that treadmill and give it all you’ve got.

Following up on our article about the importance of breakfast, next step is to discuss the types of breakfast that are well balanced and would be ideal in your quest to lose weight and make you body generally healthy.

Diet meals for breakfast come in many varieties and you as a dieter must not restrict yourself to only certain types. Variety is the best way to get your body into thinking mode and process each food differently. We are like machines, once we get used to doing something repetitavely, its easy for bad things to slip in and make our life a living hell, so by getting your body to constantly adjust to different types of meals, you are conditioning it to be more selective on the digestive process.

This idea does not mean that you should eat something different each and every day, it only suggests that varying the types of meals on a regular basis (weeks, months) will over all be generally helpful to your health.

So what kind of balanced breakfast diet do we propose? Of course we like to keep things simple and simple is the best way in most situations.

To begin with simple, everyone knows about eggs for breakfast tradition, and what a marvelous tradition it is. Eggs not only contain lots of energy, you will need to function the rest of the day, they also contain nutriens and healthy fat generally need by your body to funciton properly. So make sure you get your eggs into your breakfest diet, at least once or twice a week. You don’t need to eat them everyday, but they are required to have in your diet. No matter how you like your eggs, scambled, with cheese, milk or vegetables, they are all good for you. But make sure you eat them in moderation, never eat too much. See our article on portion sizes to decide what is too little or too much.

Next is everyone’s favourite, bacon. Well not everyone’s, but many people enjoy it greatly. Bacon is the type of food that usually goes hand in hand with eggs, so bacon and eggs would be consumed together a couple of times a week. Not too much bacon, one or two strips is plenty. It contains fat, yes, but you should know that you body needs this type of fat also to function, so don’t deprive it. Bacon is a must but in small quantities, no matter which type, they are all good.

Cereal is a good choice for some days, especially if combined with fresh or dried fruit. It provides lots of vitamins, fiber, nutrition, and fat from milk. Make sure you include it in your diet. Adding granola types of cereals will increase the fibre count and it is generally a good idea to have a good serving of fibre a day to help you go to the bathroom and release all of the unwanted material that you body decides not to process.

A fruit salad is not a good choice for breakfast, since it doesn’t provide enough energy to sustain you through the first half of your day. So a toast with jam or butter is a good sumplement. Also, you might want to consider a muffin of some sort. These would go well with a fruit serving for breakfast and provide you with much needed vitamins and energy for the day.

The most essential part of breakfast is off course drinking water/juice/tea. Your body needs to replenish the fluids it might have lost through the night, mainly through sweat and peeing in the morning, so make sure you have a glass or a cup of whatever you like. Remember coffee dehydrates you more than anything else, so having just coffee may not be ideal. You may also substitute water for milk. It is always a good choice since it contains calcium for your bones.

Having just toast for breakfast is not a bad idea, if you have at least two slices with butter or jam, or cream cheese. A bacon lettuce tomato sandwich would be a good choice, since it contains all of the need elements to make you more energetic. A bagel is a type of bread so it generally falls into this category.

Getting the meals right during breakfast is an important step on your road to weigh loss so ensure that these meals are not skipped and always well balanced. A well balanced breakfast will help you go a long way to achieving you weight loss goal, whether it is to lose a few pounds or a few dozen of them.

This is going to a be a short one.

Eating breakfast is extremely important if you want to lose weight. It provides energy for your body to function and it ensures that you do not store any extra food you consume as fat for later use. Remember if you skip it you body will assume that you are starving and it willl begin the slow process of storing fat (read energy) for later consumption. If you continually forget or chose not to eat breakfast, you will begin gaining weight faster.

Not eating breakfast also leaves you with less energy for the day, so may begin to feel tired all the time, or lose concentration quickly. Even when you are still young you will begin to feel the effects of not eating breakfast. So remember it is extremely important to eat a good healthy breakfast.

Eating less helps your body adjust to the amout of energy it consumes and begin to utilize some of you fat stores as sort of additional batteries when it needs extra energy. Most people in North America consume much more food than their bodies require to function, and as a result their bodies store the excess energy as fat.

3) Eat breakfast, eating breakfast is important, it is the most important meal of the day. Skipping breakfast sends you biological organism, (your brain), into thinking that you are lacking food, so it will store your parts of the your next meal as fast for use the next morning. Breakfast gives you energy. Makes you going in the morning and allows you to go through your day on a high note.

4) Eat lunch, eating lunch is also important, it is the most important meal of the day. Just like breakfast, it gets you going in the morning giving you energy and letting you experience life around you in a more fulfilling matter. Skipping lunch, will have the same effect as skipping breakfast, making you body store parts of your evening meal as fat for future use. Over the years, it accumulates and you know it.

5) Eat dinner/supper, eating dinner is mighty important, it is the most important meal of the day. Here you will say, wait a minute, you said breakfast or lunch were most important meals of the day. Yes, its true, but dinner is also very important. Your body needs to energy to live, depriving it of energy on a constant basis, will have your body thinking that you are in some sort of a famine situation, so it will take all the excess food that you consume and store it as fat right away. We will have more on what happens when you skip meals later on.

6) Don’t skip your meals, so the most important point is that you should never skip meals, no matter what. Eating right is just as important when it comes to losing weight as excercise is.

7) Excercise more, excercising is the best way to shed the pounds so get out there and do it.

This is the guide to how to lose weight fast free, so follow it, and you will shed the pounds in matter of weeks. Although you should not expect lose hundreds of pounds in mere weeks, a healthy weight loss will help you keep the weight off.

So what is the best diet to lose weight? A question that has been posed by many, and answered by few if any. The truth of the matter is there is no best diet to lose weight. There are better diets then others, some let you lose weight really fast, having the drawback of making you gain it all back in the same amount of time after you discontinue the diet. The better diet will have you losing the pounds slower but with a longer lasting effect.

Reviewing some of the diet plans that are out there, the ones that come to the forefront as being the better ones are Jenny Craig, Dr. Bernstein Diet, a diet plan by Charlene Chen, R.D, and mostly the diet plans that have been around for a while. Beware of the quick money making schemes that make you believe in the effectiveness of the diet and lead into false sense of weight loss. These types of diets will have you eating nothing but watermelon and drinking jugs of water, a results of which will be the extremely quick weight loss, damage to your body, and a rapid gain of weight the minute you stop using the diet.

Naturally there are diets that fall into the in between category, things like colon cleansing diet, that could last for a week or two, lets you clean out your insides and in general will make you lose a bit of weight. And as a follow up on this type of diet make sure you continue with healthy food choices and excercise to keep up the weight loss and normal function of your body.

Remember the best diet to lose weight is in your hands. Eat moderately, eat healthy, excercise a few times a week if you have a sitting only job, or a couple of times if you are active, don’t over eat and things will be alright. Lose weight now, quickly and efficiently.

3 Things to Remember When You Go For an Acai Diet.

1) It will not make you lose weight instantaneously, meaning you will have to work hard to shed the pounds.
2) For some of us it will not work at all, beside the fact that it will pump your body full of certain types of vitamins, it might not actually have any affect on you losing the weight, except for may be on your wallet
3) The best way to lose weight with acai berry is to exercise, eat in moderation and stay away for unhealthy foods.

To most people these three rules will mean nothing and they will go back to purchasing the different types of acai berries and go on all sorts of acai berry related diets. For some it might work, our organisms are differrent and we respond differently to some stimuli than others.

A final suggestion would be to most definatelly try it out, do some research on the different acai diets, and try one, but also make sure that exercise and eating right will help you shed the pounds that much faster.
